A second-half goal from Diego Colotto gave Deportivo la Coruna three important points against a stubborn Tenerife side.
Tenerife began the match as the better side, registering two chances on goal in the opening 15 minutes. The first chance saw Roman Martinez's header following a cross from the right sail over the bar, while the second opportunity had the midfielder's low shot at the top of the box easily controlled by Aranzubia.
Tenerife were clearly more dangerous side and could have broken the deadlock on 21 minutes, when Nino's cross found Richi inside the box but his header went high and wide.
