Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has written to the wounded Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour, a reported transfer target.
The 21-year-old was linked with several English clubs in the summer and Everton had a £ 9m bid rejected Defour.
But hopes of a January transfer ended when the Belgian broke his foot.
"I've heard of his injury and, in the name of Manchester United, I would like to wish him a speedy and complete recovery," the letter said.
