The domestic season has finished, and it is time to select the elite performers from around the continent on our team Season.

Our team selection is based on all the national clubs and performances in European competitions. The side of the lines of fashion in a 4-3-3 formation, allowing the brilliant Lionel Messi and Franck Ribéry to play wide midfield against one of three people.

Perhaps not too many tacklers there, but the inclusion of Nemanja Vidic at the back of opposition to ensure the attacks were thwarted by hook or missing.

Seven divisions are represented, with the recognition of surprise league titles won by Wolfsburg, Bordeaux and AZ Alkmaar.

We are confident that will have its own ideas, so feel free to leave your computer on the season in the bottom of the page!

TEAM OF THE SEASON

Goalkeeper: Shay Given (Newcastle United / Manchester)

Had he stayed at St James' Park in January, Newcastle would still be a Premier League side. His phenomenal stop shooting gave City some much-needed security.

Right of return: Maicon (Internazionale)

The Brazilian just roam the edges of Barcelona Dani Alves is a slightly better defender. A key part of the Inter Serie A title-winning effort.

Recovery center: Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United)

Unusual nightmares and Barcelona against Liverpool behind Vidic hardly put a foot wrong all season. Strong, brave and uncompromising - every team needs a Vidic.

Recovery center: Kew Jaliens (AZ Alkmaar)

Louis van Gaal in Alkmaar side acknowledged only 22 goals on their way to a first Eredivisie title since 1981, with the old Jaliens play an important role.

Left back: Aly Cissokho (Vitoria / FC Porto)

The French arrived in Oporto in January and immediately made an impressive impact as his new side won the domestic double and impressed in the Champions League.

Midfield: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)

The pattern continues Anfield inspiration to improve. Scored a career best 24 goals, and it seemed that half the time is standing still screamers.

Midfield: Yoann Gourcuff (Bordeaux)

Countless players have been called the "new Zidane ', but for comparison Gourcuff could be correct. Burdeos Lyon star struck outside his perch.

Midfield: Andrés Iniesta (Barcelona)

His performance in the Champions League final is only worth a place could have been, but the midfielder shone throughout Spain Barcelona Treble campaign.

Right: Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

Outshone Cristiano Ronaldo in Rome and probably will be elected the best player in the world. Messi amazing dribbling ability makes him a pleasure to watch.

Striker: Edin Dzeko (Wolfsburg)

Bosnian giant rose from obscurity to stardom with a superb 26-goal campaign with strike partner Grafite as Wolfsburg won its first league title.

Left: Franck Ribéry (Bayern Munich)

On an otherwise disappointing season for Bayern and it could keep its player of the season award. Wanted by Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.
